Swim Champs at UC Davis
This weekend we will be going to UC Davis for our swim champs. Check-in time is 6:45 AM. Please be sure your swimmers check in with the coaches ASAP, so they don't get scratched from the whole day - we won't have second chances at champs.
Directions to the pool at Davis are here.
There will be a $6 per day parking charge - if there's no one taking money as you drive in, please pay at the kiosk in the lot. Our team area is on a new lawn area to the left of the main gate into the pool - there are no shade trees, so be sure to bring your own pop-ups. No tarps are allowed and no stakes. No personal pop-ups are allowed inside the pool area either.
If you suddenly find that you cannot make it, please let us know. Call Coach John at 662-0603 if it's that day, or email Jo at jo@macnexus.org if it's prior to Saturday. Also, if you find you are running late that morning, call Coach John so he won't scratch you.

Swim

Founded in 1960, the Stingray Swim Team began competing in the Sacramento Placer County Swim League. Team members and parents relied on buses to transport them to meets held in distant towns such as Ukiah. Happy to minimize the traveling, the Stingrays joined the Valley Foothill Competitive Aquatic League (VFCAL) in 1965. They enjoyed their years with VFCAL and were crowned League Champs in 1977, 1980, and 1981. But the VFCAL teams outgrew the Stingrays in numbers of participants and level competition over the years. Thus, 1993 was a new beginning for the Stingrays as they competed in a newly formed league, the Northern California Swim League. This league is a compilation of teams from four area swim leagues that were looking for better parity in competition between teams. NorCal grew to 3 divisions in 1994 and in 1999 added a 4th division. Each year, the divisions are evaluated and teams are  shifted if necessary. The Stingrays competed in the Mother Lode division in 1993 and 1994. After being crowned Division Champions in 1994, they were moved up to the Gold Rush division. With the formation of a 4th division, they were shifted once again to the Mother Lode division in 1999. FEC took first place in dual meets for the 2001 season and won Championships as well, so in 2002, they were shifted up into the Eureka conference, where they still compete today. The Stingrays won the Championships in 2002 & 2004. In 2006, they took 2nd place at Champs after going undefeated in dual meets. In 2008, they were 'upgraded' to the Gold Rush Conference.

Synchro

The Stingray Synchronized Swim Team began its journey in 1968 with the Sacramento Area Synchronized Swimming League. During the 1970s they joined the VFCAL, which consists of five teams including the Auburn Mermaids, Cordova Cordettes, Fulton-El Camino Stingrays, Roseville Aquabunnies and Sunrise Swans. In 2005, the Davis Aquastarz joined the league. The Stingrays captured the League Championship titles in 1987, 1988, 1989, 1991, 1994, 1996, 1997 and 2002.

The Synchro team puts on an annual Aquacade show towards the end of the season at Cottage Pool. The Aquacade is open to the public and gives the swimmers an opportunity to show off their winning routines.
